As a singer/songwriter, Kuhns draws heavily on his story telling to write his lyrics. Kuhns' songs tell the true stories
of people, places and situations, both dramatic and comedic. His acoustic folk-rock style has incorporated some of the
ethnic music sounds found in places he's lived and worked around the world, such as South Africa and Australia.
As a musician and performer Kuhns has produced one CD of his original music (Eye of the Storm; which won an
honorable mention in a South African music contest), and a second collaborative music-poetry live performance CD
with poet and author, Dave Jones. Kuhns music and writing has been featured on WPR’s Higher Ground with
Jonathan Overby, as well as on Green Bay TV station FOX11’s Morning Show and Door/Kewanee and Madison radio
stations (WORT, Madison; WBDK and WDOR, Sturgeon Bay). He is a regular performer in coffee houses, festivals,
and assorted venues nationally.
Not to be confused with travelogues, Kuhns' stories are dynamic performances of music and life experiences. His
stories, presented in artistic monologue form, have been inspired by the style of Spaulding Gray, and invite the
listener to see the world in a new and personal light by drawing them deeply into Kuhns' experiences.
Kuhns owns and manages the indie-music production company “musicTOears”, which has produced seven music and
live stage performance CDs. He also launched Eli Mattson's music career (Eli won 2nd place in 2008 "America's Got
Talent" on NBC). Mattson recorded two of Kuhns' songs on his first CD, Monsters. Kuhns' song "Blue Ocean" has
since become a favorite among fans.
Kuhns is currently recording two new CDs of original music based on people and places he's encountered through his
travels, current ecological concerns about our planet.
